Job description:
SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for operating weld machines and work with a variety of weld fixtures while adhering to the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) welding procedures.
REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- CWB certification is mandatory, including GMAW flat position ticket.
- Must have 1 – 2 years’ welding experience in a manufacturing environment. (May also consider relevant education and training.)
- Thorough knowledge of all types of welding procedures and practices and proficient in layout, tacking, welding, grinding and finishing.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/weld symbols, drawings specifications, manuals and process sheets.
- Must possess basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals.
- Experience using electrical and manual tools (calipers, squares, etc.).
- Must be able to be certified as a FORKLIFT OPERATOR and OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR.
- Must be available to work all shifts – days, afternoons, midnights (Mandatory).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read measurements to plan layouts and procedures.
- Determine appropriate welding equipment and method based on requirements.
- Weld to the criteria stated on the welding procedure data sheet using various material and techniques (specifically MIG and TIG) using manual or semi-automatic equipment.
- Examine welds to ensure they meet standards and/or specifications.
- Complete assigned tasks and ensure performance targets and qualities are met.
- Maintain equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety and health regulations.
SKILLS:
- Ability to achieve and maintain required productivity levels in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Capable of performing physical job requirements with ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and consistently reach, bend, sit, stand and climb.
- Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is adaptable, open minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative.
- Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.
