WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Serve as the point of contact for employee concerns, addressing them in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage the recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing and onboarding new employees.
- Maintain employee records with accuracy and confidentiality including contracts, and performance reviews.
- Advise managers on legal compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement new Human Resources initiatives, programs, and processes.
- Attend recruitment opportunities, compile recruitment statistics and information, work on special HR projects, and perform various other duties as assigned.
- Foster positive employee relations through effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Understand the WCB process and procedures including Return to Work, claim engagement and reporting.
- Perform a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management, business administration or related discipline or a suitable combination of training and experience.
- CPHR designation or working towards will be considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years experience working Human Resources is required.
- Previous experience working in a Unionized environment is required.
- Employee/Labour Relations experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- General current knowledge of Employment Law, Provincial Legislation, Employment Standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills – able to reprioritize as the workload dictates.
- Proficient use of computers and word processing skills using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to deal with difficult situations in an efficient and effective manner.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work under minimal supervision.
- A high level of confidentiality in all matters relating to the organization and employees.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving and achieving results.
- Understanding and practices of Health and Safety would be an asset.
