Import and Export Logistics Administrator

We are seeking a detailed oriented and organized Import and Export Logistics Administrator to support the Department. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Reporting to the VP Procurement, the Import and Export Logistics Administrator will play a key role in the daily administration associated with customer orders and US border crossings. The Import and Export Logistics Administrator is also responsible for the coordination of required customs paperwork to support the export sales of the business.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Ensure compliance with CBSA, including HS classification, valuation and country of origin requirements. 
  • Work closely with corporate brokers to maintain up-to-date tariff classification database and ensure compliance with changing USMCA requirements.
  • Act as primary compliance contact for incoming/outgoing shipments.
  • Manage Duty Drawback process including assisting in system design, implementing processes and claim submissions.
  • Provide support and back-up to the Shipping Department for export brokerage requirements.
  • Create, manage and maintain all documentation.
  • Ensure all shipments comply with relevant regulations, including customs and import/export requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records in tracking systems.
  • Manage customer and carrier files and information.
  • Manage insurance and carrier packages

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL NEED:

  • Previous experience in logistics administration or a similar role.
  • Proficiency with (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook) including spreadsheets, word processing, reliable keyboarding, and data processing skills, with the ability to learn custom software.
  • Post secondary education an asset
  • Experience in logistics/trucking/customs environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of USMCA and exporting is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly desired.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and web portals.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and documentation.
  • Attention to detail to ensure paperwork and submissions are filed accurately.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Very strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal skills to provide professional support ensuring customer satisfaction and building effective customer relationships.
  • Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is adaptable, open minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative.
