Perform various tasks to set up, operate, and monitor core cutting machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting products to specifications to maintain quality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous machine operation or similar, relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understand production and plant processes.
- Successful completion of all Carte pre-screening, assessments and tests.
- Must possess basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals.
- Read and understand a core data sheet.
- Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.) is an asset.
- Knowledge of safe machine practice standards is an asset.
- Must be able to be certified as a FORKLIFT OPERATOR and OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR.
- Must be willing to work in other departments on a temporary basis as designated by the manager.
- Must be available to work all shifts – days, afternoons, midnights (Mandatory).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set-up, calibrate, and maintain machinery and machine tools.
- Align and place tools, cutters, guides, and stops correctly in the machine.
- Operate machinery and equipment including sheers, punches, and power hand tools, according to instructions.
- Verify dimensions of parts using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers.).
- Adjust machinery settings when necessary to improve performance.
- Ensure specification requirements are correct, perform quality checks, follow reporting procedures, and report problems to manager.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety and health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area.
- Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions.
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products meet specifications.
- Maintain equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety and health regulations.
SKILLS:
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to achieve and maintain required productivity levels in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks.
- Ability to work and make decisions independently without direct supervision.
- Capable of performing physical job requirements with ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and consistently reach, bend, sit, stand and climb.
- Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is detail oriented, adaptable, open minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative, and has strong organizational and time management skills.
- Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.
