Carte developed a special version of the padmount transformer with specific focus on the commercial and industrial markets – the VisiTran. The VisiTran is a patented design, with patents issued by both the Canadian and US patent offices.
The VisiTran product features a gang-operated, oil immersed and interlocked primary switch with a visible viewing window to confirm the contacts are either open or closed. The product features interlocked doors to dramatically ramp up the overall safety for operators of this product – the keyed interlocks require that the primary switch be on the “open” position before the key may be extracted and used to gain entry to the secondary cable compartment. As with all Carte products, the construction is robust and the product complies with the tamperproof requirements associated with padmount transformers.
Typical VisiTran options include primary fusing, tap switches, dual voltage switches, gauges for monitoring oil temperature, and many other options. VisiTran products have been provided with secondary wall access throats, throat and cable box secondary and top mounted throats for secondary cable duct. Tanks are typically carbon steel but stainless steel tank options (304L or 316L) are also possible.
