Carte International is continuing to grow and has an exciting opportunity for experienced welders to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility.  You will participate in team efforts to achieve department goals, complete tasks on time and according to SOP’s and regulatory requirements. We have several openings on a rotating shift schedule. Monday to Friday day shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) Monday to Friday Afternoon Shift (2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.)  Midnight shift (Sunday – 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. – Monday to Thursday 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Weld to the criteria stated on the welding procedure data sheet using various material and techniques (specifically MIG and TIG) using manual or semi-automatic equipment.
  • Examine welded surfaces and structure to ensure they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • Determine appropriate welding equipment and method based on requirements.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, weld symbols and or process sheets.
  • Take or read measurements to plan layouts and procedures.
  • Complete assigned tasks and ensure performance targets and qualities are met.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety and health regulations.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to achieve and maintain required productivity levels in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Capable of performing physical job requirements with ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and consistently reach, bend, sit, stand and climb.
  • Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is adaptable, open minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative.
  • Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL NEED:

  • Successful completion of all Carte pre-screening assessments including the Carte Welding test.
  • CWB certification is mandatory, including MCAW/FCAW flat position ticket.
  • Must have 1 – 2 years’ welding experience in a manufacturing environment. (May also consider relevant education and training.)
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of welding procedures and practices and proficient in layout, tacking, welding, grinding and finishing.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/weld symbols, drawings specifications, manuals and process sheets.
  • Must possess basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, conversions of fractions and decimals.
  • Experience using electrical and manual tools (calipers, squares, etc.).
  • Must be able to be certified as a FORKLIFT OPERATOR and OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR.
  • Must be willing to work in other departments on a temporary basis as assigned by the manager of lead hand.
  • Must be available to work all shifts (days, afternoons and midnights).
