SUMMARY
This position is responsible for preparing surface for application, and also for creating a surface profile for paint to adhere to during the painting process by means of shotblasting.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have full knowledge of shotblast equipment, operations, and processes.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings specifications.
- Must have knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment and hand tools, such as bandsaws
- Must be certified as a FORKLIFT OPERATOR and OVERHEAD CRANE OPERATOR.
- Must be willing to work in other departments on a temporary basis as assigned by the manager.
- Must be available to work all shifts – days, afternoons, midnights (Mandatory).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean and prepare metal components and assemblies as required prior to operation.
- Utilize overhead crane and slinging operations and ensure safe transport of parts into the Shotblast booth and Paint shop.
- Conduct shotblast operations according to accepted procedures and standards.
- Inspect and remove all shot grit following shotblast operation and prepare components and assemblies for unloading.
- Conduct in-process inspections and records results.
- Provide technical expertise for analyzing and resolving shotblast problems and issues.
- Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to less experienced Shot blasters.
- Maintain shotblast equipment.
- Read the specifications in order to determine which type of blast media should be used in each case.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety and health regulations.
SKILLS:
- Ability to achieve and maintain required productivity levels in a dynamic and challenging environment by effectively organizing, prioritizing, and executing tasks.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Capable of performing physical job requirements with ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and consistently reach, bend, sit, stand and climb, and have good working use of all limbs.
- Reliable, punctual, and positive team-player who is adaptable, open minded, enthusiastic, and takes initiative.
- Previous knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing considered an asset.
